Welcome to the Official Realm of Dr. Axel Schumacher - Where Science Meets Imagination

The world need a new form of politics

Despite the supposed progress, the world is once again teetering on a perilous edge. We’re up against unprecedented challenges—climate change, a surge in populism, the revival of fascism, and the persistence of Islamism—yet politics continues to operate in a vacuum. Across the globe, incompetents have ascended to power, and it's not just narcissistic, self-serving buffoons like Donald Trump or Viktor Orbán. Even worse, we’re witnessing terrorist organizations gaining control of vast regions—from the Islamic extremists in Iran and the Middle East to the fascist thugs around mass murderer Putin running the show in Russia - killing innocent people in the hundred thousands, leaving whole areas of Ukraine a wasteland. Meanwhile, the UN, which once actually mattered, has been reduced to a spineless, irrelevant husk under António Guterres’ 'leadership.' The world needs a radical course correction. And fast!

“Humanism is not a belief in the supernatural but a belief in the power of reason to improve human welfare.”

Steven Pinker, Cognitive psychologist, linguist, and author. Advocate for science, reason, and human progress, highlighting the centrality of rational thinking and human welfare within humanist philosophy.

A Vision for Humanity:
How Humanism Can Build a Better Future

Humanism is a worldview that emphasizes the value and agency of human beings, relying on reason, ethics, and justice rather than divine or supernatural beliefs. It is rooted in the belief that human beings have the capacity to lead fulfilling lives based on empathy, shared human values, and the pursuit of knowledge. The humanist movement seeks to promote these values in all aspects of society, advocating for a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive, free from discrimination and oppression.

“We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.”

Richard Dawkins, Evolutionary biologist, ethologist, and author, often points to the role of skepticism in humanism and the importance of secular thought.

Humanist Parties: A Vision for Political Change

In an era marked by rapid change and complex challenges, humanist parties like Germany's Partei der Humanisten and the American Humanist Party exist to champion a vision of a better future for all. These parties believe in putting humanity at the heart of politics—advocating for reason, science, secularism, compassion, and human rights to shape a fair and progressive society. They want a world where decisions are made not based on outdated ideologies or divisive rhetoric, but on evidence, empathy, and the pursuit of well-being for every individual.

“Science is constantly proved all the time. If we take any fiction, or any holy book, and destroyed it, in a thousand years' time that wouldn't come back as it was. Whereas if we took every science book, and every fact, and destroyed them all, in a thousand years they'd all be back, because all the same tests would be the same result.”

Ricky Gervais - Comedian, actor, and writer. Outspoken atheist known for satirical humor and social commentary. supporting the importance of science and rational inquiry, central to humanism.

The Importance of Secularism

Secularism is a key tenet of humanist parties. They believe in the separation of religion and state, ensuring that policies are guided by reason and scientific understanding rather than religious doctrine. By keeping religion out of politics, they strive for a society where freedom of belief is respected for all, and no one is discriminated against based on their faith—or lack thereof. Secularism creates the foundation for a political environment that values every citizen equally, focusing on policies that benefit everyone, regardless of their background.

"For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love."

Carl Sagan - Astronomer, planetary scientist, and science communicator. Popularized space exploration and the search for extraterrestrial life. His views on humanism often centered on our interconnectedness and the importance of compassion, curiosity, and wonder in navigating our place in the universe.

Science as a Guiding Force

Humanist parties are also deeply committed to science and its role in improving society. They recognize that scientific progress has the potential to solve many of our greatest challenges—whether it's combating climate change, eradicating disease, or ensuring access to clean energy. By promoting evidence-based policymaking, these parties work to ensure that our collective future is guided by knowledge and innovation. As Steven Pinker once said, "Science is not a body of knowledge but a method of inquiry. It’s a way of thinking that generates insight, solves problems, and advances human progress." This belief in the power of science is at the core of humanist values, driving them to advocate for education, research, and a future where knowledge leads the way.

"The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge."

Its core issues include promoting education, science, and technology, as well as the separation of church and state. The party champions evidence-based policy, civil rights, and individual freedoms. The party aims to offer an alternative to established parties and promote rational thinking in politics.

"To make mistakes is human; to stumble is commonplace; to be able to laugh at yourself is maturity."

A Vision for a United Humanity

Humanist parties are driven by the idea that we can solve today’s pressing issues—from climate change to inequality—by focusing on what unites us rather than what divides us. We imagine a future where humanity's potential is fully realized, where technology and progress serve the needs of people, and where every person has the opportunity to live a fulfilling and dignified life. Our goal is to make politics about creating a thriving, sustainable, and just future—one that we can be proud to pass on to future generations.
